If you’re looking for a simple, effective way to reinforce positive behavior and keep students motivated all year long, let me introduce you to my go-to classroom management tool: tickets.

In our classroom, students earn tickets for showing following directions quickly, helping others, and going above and beyond. I pass them out throughout the day, and let me tell you—they work like magic.

Once students collect enough tickets, they can cash them in for a variety of fun rewards, like:

  • 🖊 Pen for the Day
  • 🥪 Lunch Date with Me
  • 👋 Visit a Favorite Teacher
  • 🎁 Pick from the Prize Box

To keep things fresh and exciting, I swap out the rewards every quarter. This keeps students engaged, gives them something new to look forward to, and helps reset motivation if it starts to dip.

The best part? It’s low-prep, easy to manage, and creates a joyful classroom culture rooted in recognition and choice.

Simple. Effective. And student-approved. 🎉

Teacher Tip: Store the roll in an easy-access spot near your main teaching area, so you’re always ready to give a quick shoutout. The more seamless it is, the more consistently it becomes part of your classroom routine.

You can have students write their initials on the back to ensure that tickets don’t get stolen. But if you want to reduce, reuse and recycle, snag some mesh pouches for students to store tickets in, so that you can reuse them when students cash in!
